Born in Germany and raised in Munich, Nicki majored in Latin and Fine Arts at Munich’s Pestalozzi Gymnasium, High-school of Music and Art. After studying at the Conservatory of Music in Munich, she relocated to New York City in 1988 to become a makeup artist. She began her career working in New York’s thriving independent movie scene of the 90’s, department heading many indie films including “Palookaville”, “Happiness”, “Walking and Talking” and “Jesus’ Son”, before moving onto television and major motion pictures.

In the late 90s, she joined the team on “Sex and the City”, and from there on designed studio films including “The Devil Wears Prada”, ‘P.S. I Love You” and “Enchanted”.
Since then she teamed up frequently with some of the most respected directors in the industry including Martin Scorsese, Steven Soderbergh, The Coen Brothers, and Todd Philips. Some of her more notable design work includes “Boardwalk Empire” - the pilot, “Vinyl”, “The Knick”, “The Greatest Showman”, “the Irishman”, “Joker”, “The Gilded Age” and the upcoming ‘Folie A Deux -Joker 2” featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.
Helping create over 65 feature films and 10 tv shows, she won 1 Emmy, was nominated for 5 more, earned nominations for 2 BAFTAs and 1 Academy Award, and was honored for her overall achievements by “NYWIF” (New York Women In Film) as well as “The Hollywood Beauty Awards”.
Nicki lives in Brooklyn New York. Her greatest love and pride are her 3 and a half children. She has 2 cats, a bass guitar, a keyboard, and the occasional motorcycle, and she makes awesome Spotify playlists.
